Survive the Night (brief review)

This book 📖 stood out to me because of it's cover and hooked me with the writing on the first page.  I popped it open in the book section of Target, thinking,  "Oh, its a teenager book.  It's conservative."

Well, it isn't conservative.  There is ubiquitous use of profanity, colorful metaphors, and adult themes.  It is a very real book as some kids live the lifestyle of "in and out drug rehab" described in the book.

That drug and party lifestyle is an indication of a legitimate disease.  Anyone suffering from addiction should seek help.  I am only 50 odd pages in the book.

While "Survive the Night" is really great writing and I appreciate the author's craft, my students should seek out better influences that inspire them to act and behave for the greatest good.

I will finish the book, but I cannot endorse the book as a read for my students.  It should be noted that I teach in very conservative Texas.  #read #ethics #positiveinfluence
